About us
The Story of our Beginning, the Present and the Future.
Madrassa Taleem – un – Niswaan is an Islamic Institute located in Pietermaritzburg, Kwa-Zulu Natal, dedicated to the service of the noble tertiary Islamic education. The aim and objective of the madrasah is to promote all aspects of Islamic theology, Jurisprudence, correct recitation of the Holy Qur’an, Tafseer and Prophetic traditions with proper Islamic Tarbiyah.
Prior to 1989, Pietermaritzburg did not have a girls Madressa as such, therefore certain Ulama and some seniors in the community felt the need to establish a girl’s Madressa at that particular time.
Founded in 1989, under the guidance and advice of Hazrat Maulana Maseehullah Khan Sahib (R.A), the madrasah opened its doors with a handful of students and a few teachers.
Its humble beginnings were in a rented house on William Street which was a day Madrassa. A need arose in 1990 to accommodate students for boarding as a host of students were not from Pietermaritzburg. Due to the increase in students preferring to board at the Madressa, the house on William Street grew small.
In 1992 a family donated a property to the Madressa, on Burger Street, which the Madressa moved to and with the Grace of Allah Ta’ala, currently exists today.
Alhamdulillah, today, the madrasah has grown and is flourishing with students from a host of countries and a compliment of highly qualified and experienced teachers. A large number of the students are from such parts of the globe where adequate tertiary Islamic education is not available. Thus far, scores have graduated from South Africa, Kwa- Zulu Natal in particular, as well as abroad and are serving as teachers while doing daily taleem in their respective areas.
